Crackle Nail Polish - Latest Trend in Nails

Polish is polish is polish. Unless, of course, it crackles. Crackle nail polish creates a shatter effect by applying one color on top of the other, with the top color "crackling", leaving a gritty, intricate effect.

It’s so different and unique that people will think you sat at the salon for hours to get that design. You can even layer it over glitters for a more creative touch. But the truth is, it can easily be applied yourself using a bottle of crackle polish, available in several brands.

One of the reasons for the latest trend is attributed to the Katy Perry OPI Collection that launched earlier this year.

How to Wear:

Crackle nail polish looks best when applied to two contrasting colors. All you have to do is lay down a coat of your favorite color, then apply a crackle nail polish over it. The crackle will crack and split as it dries, leaving behind an urban look. The best crackle polishes are made by OPI and China Glaze.

How to Apply:

• First of all wash your hands and clean your nails, file them if required then apply the base coat of transparent nail polish let it dry first. Apply basic second coat of your own choice and this is simple nail polish of any color you want to show under crackle nail polish coat.
• Apply a contrasting shade of crackle nail polish and within few seconds it will turns in to crackle.
• To shine the crackle effect, apply a top shiny coat.
• If you prefer a matte look, do not apply the shiny coat on top.

There are variety of color combination that make your nails more trendy and chic.

1. Try purple and then apply white crackle nail polish, or vise verse.
2. You can apply white basic coat and then black crackle nail polish over it.
3. Hot pink with black crackle.
4. Silver underneath with glitter blue on top.
5. Any two contrasting shades. Experiment for different effects.

I'm not one to keep my nails painted, but this new crackle effect has me excited about my nails again.
